I’d just comment like nuts if I were eligible for the 500,000th comment contest.
Call this an open thread. Go nuts! I’m too busy writing to blog anyway.

Does the number of comments you make actually increase your chances of winning?
Feh. Since Cambridge is not far from me, I only want a runner’s-up mug 🙂
Should see the silliness that is going on at PZ’s blog. It really is sad and funny. And yes, I have added to it.
One entry per e-mail, or entry per comment? Good question.
Cambridge sounds great to visit.
Which is a real sad thought seeing that I grew up near there, and just never went.
Do deleted comments count?
comment.
Show me the money!
Yay for comments 😛

Matt asked what I have been wondering. What happens if one of your regular trolls wins?
Comment!
I wanna win!
Hmm… I had forgotten about it.
Show me the money!
T-40 (well, now T-39)!
Yeah, but the meta-challenge is to make each comment useful, relevant, meaningful, and not waste people’s time with blather.
Oops.
40 comments to go!
Read Books by Dawkins, Harris, and Hitchens. It will make you a better person.
Because it’d be a shame if the actual 500kth comment turned out not to be worth quoting.

I had thought it was one entry per email, but Mark’s comment made it sound like one entry per post. :-/
You may also want to read a lot of Science Blogs. Reality based existence is so much more fulfilling.
Oh me me me please 🙂
one entry per email despite my furious commenting over at PZ’s place.
*hangs head in shame
Mora IK – HV 71 : 2 – 2
oh, what the hell. Might as well give it a go.
Yea, its one entry per email: The contest will conclude when we reach the 500,000th comment. When will that be? Keep an eye on our Network Statistics to find out. (Limit one entry per email address.)
Go ScienceBlogs!!!
985 😀
what
Do I win 🙂
Doh
Thus endeth our lesson.
As I recall, it’s one entry per e-mail (person), so the number of comments a person makes does not matter.
I’m kindof hoping “Neal” of PZ fame is the winner. 😉
Worth a punt…

Ahh, I see. So what Mark meant was people who want to win should be furiously posting so as to reduce the chances of new people entering the contest. Now it makes sense.
Come on 500,000!
Are you sure it works like that? Surely they could disqualify such blatant meta-commenting?
It’s over, good luck guys!
From what I understand it will take a day or two to figure out who the winners are. If you don’t hear from us, it’s not you.
My pathetic attempt at free stuff.
Ive been to Cambridge. Its… just another city, really.
I hope that a disemvoweled comment wins. I’d like to see if the sciencebloggers would give the prize to a troll or someone they strongly disagree with.
Intellectual integrity and all.
I expect that the selection committee would want to protect the sci-bloggers from the ethical hazards. Or not. How’s it work in the back channels?
